EDGC, a global third-generation genomics company, reveals on Feb 2 that it has signed a business agreement with Gangseo MizMedi Hospital, women’s health specialized hospital, in order to build genome-based medical services.
Through this business agreement, EDGC and Gangseo Mizmedi Hospital will collaborate for: ▲personalized treatment considering genetic specificity ▲genetic screening service for pregnant and newborn ▲operation of comprehensive health screening center ▲utilization of EMR (electronic chart) through genome data sharing ▲implementation of health forecasting based on genetic risk. This agreement is meaningful in a way that it brings precision medicine close to real life, combining genetic counseling services beyond research-based cooperation.
By providing CLIA-certified clinical genomics services and algorithms for genomic analysis, EDGC enables medical institutions to conduct more precise diagnosis using genome data, and healthcare consumers to maintain their health in an innovative form of information sharing. Both organizations plan to actively cooperate in creation of task force to establish guidelines for precision and genomic medicine (4P: Preventive, Prediction, Personalized, Participatory).
Young-gun Jang, a director of Gangseo Mizmedi Hospital, said “The development of new medical technology by combining medical care and big data through analysis of genome information is the direction that medical industry should proceed in the era of fourth industrial revolution. As a medical institution taking responsible for national health, Gangseo Mizmedi Hospital will cooperate with EDGC on customized patient care.”
Min-seob Lee, a co-CEO of EDGC, said “It has been proven that the combination of genetic testing and medical services make diagnosis and treatment more precise.” “EDGC will take on the role of game changer, which reduces the burden of medical expenses and prepares the public for a healthy hundred-year-old age.”, he added.
